SENSE    2024_ART-SCIENCE

SENSE is an immersive sonic experience presenting 36 years of environmental data on a 15-minute time scale, allowing you to feel climate change. The piece is crafted from temperature and net radiation measurements at Cabauw, a KNMI measuring station in the Netherlands, between 1987-2023.

Inside SENSE, scientific measurements become music and light. The installation weaves together three visual streams: 1) You, captured in real-time, reflecting immediate presence; 2) The Mast, the scientific instrument sensing decades of change; and 3) The Interaction, visualized through AI generated visuals, representing the dynamic dialogue between human perception and complex data.

By placing you directly within this flow of information, SENSE moves beyond graphs and charts. It fosters a visceral dialogue between the immediate moment and long-term environmental shifts, prompting reflection on how we perceive – and respond to – our changing world.
